The speakers at the meeting of Kendal Rotary on 6th August were Dr Daniel Alberts and Dr Douglas Davies who came to enlighten the club about BASICS (The British Association for Immediate Care).

It began in 1977 and is now country wide and works in conjunction with the Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance and these two doctors are in the process of establishing a local version of the charity.

They currently have nine volunteer doctors and a number of paramedics on their books who can be called to help at road traffic accidents. The charity is self-funded and is currently looking for help in non-clinical roles.
