The International Citizen Service in Burkina Faso

The speaker at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Kendal on 22nd May was Indus Hill who had spent three month in Burkina Faso working with the International Citizen Service. Burkina Faso is a relatively small landlocked country in west Africa (about the size of New Zealand), with a population of about 16.3 million.

She, along with other volunteers, worked on a project empowering women, children and the disabled in an otherwise male dominated society by awareness training, local health and contraception education and teaching English and French to the local populace along with other similar projcts.
