The speaker at the meeting of the Rotary Club of Kendal on 6th May was Yasmin Azarya who came to the club in January to talk about a three months project working with the I.C.S International Service in Ghana.

She has now returned and came to describe her experiences whilst over there. The International Citizen Service (ICS) is a once-in-a-lifetime, UK government-funded programme providing volunteer placements to 18-25 year olds. She travelled to Ghana, based near the town of Tamale in the north of the country, and helped with Ghanaian volunteers on a number of projects.

The whole experience was very rewarding and she is planning to continue the work to help fundraise to provide a clean water supply for the village..
